The Firestone Crystal Kindle Edition
But when he has a strange reunion with a mysterious childhood friend, Thea gets the opportunity to visit a world beyond the stars, and become Earth's first student to enrol in an experimental Interplanetary Education Programme at the Firestone Academy, where lessons in telepathy and astral projection are part of the curriculum.
Things, however, are not as straightforward as they seem.
Not only is she having increasingly disturbing dreams, one of her fellow students despises her and will stop at nothing to make her leave, and as for that hideously deformed cave-dwelling creature, what can it possibly want with her?

About the authors
Linda David was born in Cyprus in 1967 to parents who both hail from the Caribbean island of Nevis, and has also lived in Germany as well as St Kitts and Nevis in the West Indies.
Currently residing in the UK, the idea for her first book, The Firestone Crystal, came when she was on maternity leave, and started off as a short story that she would be able to read to her children when they were older. It continued to grow as she occasionally added a chapter here and there as the years went by, eventually turning into full-length novel.
She has always enjoyed reading and was encouraged to do so from a very early age, and that is partly what inspired her to write. Even today, she can remember the excitement and wonder she used to experience as a child when reading fantasy and adventure stories, and she hopes that through her writing, she will be able to inspire and encourage other children's interest and pleasure in reading as well.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 March 2016Excellent book for older children and young teenagers (age 9 and above). Captivating story if you like a bit of space fantasy with superb language, description and sentence structures.
As a teacher I have used this book with Year 5s to look at description of character and action.
Highly recommended
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2016This book was brilliant! I read this book through my summer holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the book! It reminded me as a young person how important family is and being surrounded by people who genuinely love and care for you. I recommend reading this book as it highlights the key struggles a young girl has to go through due to being different to her peers at school, which was also something that I had suffered in my early teenage life. Reading this book showed me the importance of being comfortable in your own skin despite your insecurities and differences to others around you.
I highly recommend this book to anyone of any age group as this it contains an elemnt that can be relatable by all.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 March 2012I thoroughly enjoyed this young adult fantasy book. I have read all my life any and every genre I can get my hands on. It took me back to being a teen with all those burgeoning friendships and confidences.

This book is a class apart
A wonderful read full of magical fantasy suspense and fun
kind of crossed between the Harry Potter genre and sci fi venture
I highly recommend this to anyone to both teenage child and adult alike you just can't put it down from start to finish
I can't praise Linda enough other than its worth more than the maximum stars
its a real diamond like the Firestone Crystal!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2012I absolutely loved this book! From start to finish I was immersed in the book feeling as though I was 'experiencing' the story first hand. Talk about feeling as though you are being transported! That's how I felt, and I was always in anticipation of what was going to happen next. I was left feeling that I would love to attend the school in the story and I even recognised some of the characters as being like people that I have met at sometime in my life. I highly recommend this book for young and old who just want to get away from this humdrum world and enter another world that has been brought to life brilliantly by the author.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 August 2012I enjoyed this book because it's one of those 'ageless' books that can appeal to a wide audience.
It's the kind of book that kids will love, filled with adventure and fantasy, just the right ingredients to inspire young minds and encourage them to keep reading.
But adults will also appreciate the sci-fi elements too, which open up new worlds (pun intended) of possibilities to those with active imaginations. I can picture this on the big screen.
I'll be looking out for more books from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just one word "Wow"
What a great story! The author's imagination is right up there with J. K. Rowling, IMO this book is like a scifi Harry Potter. It revolves around an eleven year old girl who ends up in another kind of universe to go to a certain school along with lots of others her age. They are all from different planets and look very different but friendships are formed along with some not so friendly. There is humor, mystery, suspense and lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing who is not whom they seem to be. I think children up to adults would enjoy this book! Wonderful job Linda!
