About the author

Chris M. Hibbard was born in the suburbs of New Jersey, the second of three brothers. His family soon moved to Alaska, where he grew up scrambling over the mountains and beaches of a remote village wedged between thickly wooded peaks and deep fjords. His childhood shaped in him an early love for family and the outdoors, and inspired such hobbies as wildlife photography, tree grafting, and hiking.
His first novel began as a collection of stories he invented to entertain his children. He, his wife and four children make their home in the Piney Woods of Texas.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 January 2013What a book.... when everyday life moves at a pace matched to a run away train and there is always so much to do, when do we take time to listen. God is always with us especially when life seems so hard we just have to stop. This book seeks to remind us that our jobs are not as important as our families which are gifts from God.
Made me take time to reflect on my lifetime choices perhaps sitting watching my 10year old at gymnastics is more fruitful than working even more hours.
Time does pass very quickly we need to treat everyday as our last and know that we are loved.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2014This is just a short story rather than a book, with only 2,750 words. It The hero is a Christian family man who has had a bad day and is now late for his young daughter's piano recital. Driving too fast, he prays that he will not have to go to work next day to face his problems, before his car goes out of control and he wakes up at home. At least, he thinks he is at home....What happens next changes his life, as he learns what is really important.
This is a well-conceived story with an interesting outcome. It wasn't meaty enough to really involve me, but I suppose that is the nature of short stories. It is wholesome and meaningful, thought-provoking and well worth reading.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 July 2015I found this piece rather confusing and noisy. It was so noisy I could not hear the whisper at all.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 May 2013Quick short read but had a message in there for all of us I think. I defy anyone to not be able to identify themselves in this story.

Good idea for a normal novel.
Do we listen to all the soft whispers of God or does He have to shout?
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2013This book is so inspiring, because it shows you just how God can communicate with us. How much he loves us that he communicates with us his children in all kinds of ways.just an inspiring book.

Don't worry God is always listening! Don't get in your own way. This little book has many lessons we all need, whether we know it or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but really short
This was a very good short story. It was so short that while I was reading the end and realizing it, I wanted more, but it was the end.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three Stars
OK, but too much dominated by a fundamentalist Christian discourse for my liking.
