- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2012I was drawn into Kit Griffin's world immediately! The way the author has set up the scenes throughout this novel is truly clever, she has you eagerly turning the next page with great anticipation. This book is so well written and full of suspense... Kit is implicated in a murder and the detectives have got their grip on her unwilling to let go. Three friends from childhood, unexplained murders, a romance and some very unexpected twists. Just when you think you have the story sussed the author throws in another delicious twist and sends you down another path altogether. This is a very gripping story that will hold your attention until the very last page. I highly recommend this book to anyone, you won't be disappointed... Well done to author.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2016Very very slow to start with, way too much sex in it for it to be a "good" murder story and the story is drawn out. You're left not knowing what happens at the end..(because it's a trilogy) so you have to buy the next one. But saying all that, the murder storyline through it is good and hopefully, after buying all 3, we'll get to know what happens!!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 August 2013A roller-coaster of mystery, suspense, and intrigue. Just Evil is littered with secrets and devious events, all backdropped by a methodical serial killer's secret agenda to brutally punish the powerful family whose power and control have reigned uncontested for 4 decades.
Kit is a vulnerable young woman, and the target of too many antagonists - and that includes the police themselves. Relying on her support-network of friends and her lover, Jake, she is constantly fighting to survive in a world complicated with the circuitous plotting of the dreadful Boyd family... and the legacy of a brutal and abusive mother.
The story has a all of the elements of a good mystery suspense: intrigue, duplicity, lies, teasing secrets, love, passion and all things sexy. This is an involved story of love and evil, passion and mistrust. A great introduction to a series which shows that money may not buy happiness but it certainly can buy influence. ... And for every family's illicit gain, somebody must pay for it. Recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2017What i thought was simply a crime thriller at first glance ended up being so much more. I found myself completely hooked and Intreagued with this book. I loved the second chance love story entwined within the story surrounding murders and hidden truths between the main characters. I need the other books as quick as I can 1click them.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2016I really enjoyed this book... until the end. I really thought that at least most of the ends would tie up and only a few did. I know that there is another book in the series after this but having read the synopsis it focuses on a different character. That said it was a gripping read and kept me page turning- I just wanted more pages to turn!!! I rarely give 5* and a suitable ending is one of my criteria for this, which I would have given if......
A story of troubled childhoods and pasts revisited, human nature and nurture , and friendships through thick and thin. An enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2017Once started you cannot wait to see how things turn out. Complex characters each with an untold story. Leaves you hanging for the next instalment.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Down - Two to Go
Just Evil was another free book offer that I downloaded to my Kindle a few weeks ago. I just love Amazon's promotion, which allows authors to get their books into the hands of readers who may not normally read that genre. The book description and first few chapters pulled me in and held my interest throughout.
Kit Griffin is suspected of killing her abusive, wealthy mother, and the two detectives assigned to this case are relentless in their efforts to prove she did it. Two of her close female friends and a beloved aunt are there to support her every step of the way. Did she do it?
Jake Boston, an old family friend, comes back to town after a short absence; leaving town suddenly after he'd been found innocent in the murder of his own wife a year earlier. Jake has some history with these same two detectives, who tried desperately to pin the murder on him last year; against the advice of others, he takes Kim under his wing to help prove her innocence.
A childhood crush and the amount of time they were spending together ignites a flame that sat dormant for many years. This soon erupts into a sex fest that consumes most of their spare time in the coming weeks. Is this love, lust or do either of them have a separate agenda?
Soon other deaths occur within the same family circle and the detectives want to pin them all on Kit. However, she has an alibi for all except her mother's. Is there a second killer or only one? After several homes and Jake's office are ransacked and trashed by thieves, they find that nothing is missing. So what are they looking for? The friends set out on a search of their own, and begin at Kit's mother's ransacked home. They soon discover a hidden attic and begin searching for anything that looks out of place. Something is soon uncovered in a long forgotten, dust covered box. Will they find the answers inside?
Kit had continuous nightmares since her mother's death and wakes up at 3:03 am every morning. Unsure what they mean, Jake helps her learn that her dreams of death mimic the 1969 Manson Murders. Why is she having them? Is she clairvoyant - could this be a sign of sorts to prove her innocence or maybe even her guilt?
The story has many twists and turns, leaving a reader anxious to discover the truth. The author does a marvelous job in bringing it all together at the end to provide answers that solve this mystery. However, many of the questions raised in "Just Evil" are left
unanswered...book two in the trilogy may have some of them. And if not, then book three is a certain bet. Kudos to Vickie McKeehan for writing this story! I have already purchased her other two books in the trilogy, adding them to my list of books to read. Hopefully, I can get to them soon and enjoy another story by Vickie McKeehan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read
I tend to rate all books as good, if I make it to the end it's because it kept my attention, which this one did, great character development and story line, also good grammar and punctuation and spelling with lots of suspense, I enjoyed it and would recommend this book. Off to search for book 2 of the trilogy!
