- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 November 2017I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dr Hepker’s book, A Glimpse of Heaven, and know I’ll be dipping into it whenever I need to focus on more positive thinking in future. It is a detailed and well written book that provokes deep thought – and it certainly made me think carefully about my own life and where improvements could be made.
The book delves into and analyses the concept of True Health, which is described as ‘a total feeling of health and well-being’. This state can only be reached by taking true responsibility for our own actions, which necessitates that we make a number of healthful changes. The author does not overlook the fact that changes can sometimes be difficult or scary and that True Effort and perseverance are needed in order to succeed. Nor does he omit to stress that there is always room for improvement.
The book guides us through the various changes that can be made, each chapter cleverly building upon and developing the themes of previous chapters. Many changes revolve around our interactions with and support of others – a complex point based on the idea that we are all ‘in the same boat’ and what the author describes as the Golden Rule, ‘Do as you would be done by.’ Other changes involve looking at ourselves as individuals, our level of fitness and eating habits, for example, and the need of improving our ability to care for ourselves rather than relying wholly on the medical care system. We also look closely at our own appreciation of life and the need to enjoy each moment as it comes. If we spend our days forever looking into the past or longing for some future date, we will not find True Happiness.
In summary, this is a wonderful book for promoting positive thinking and the many ways in which people can find true peace and happiness. By looking honestly at ourselves and our lives, taking responsibility for our actions and ‘doing the right thing for the right sake’ we can reach the state of True Health and Wellness and, perhaps, attain a Glimpse of Heaven.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2014I've read a lot of philosophy, new age, and self help books, but this one is different. Written in an easy to understand format, it is light years ahead of other books in the same genre. I nodded and smiled my way through it, agreeing, saying WOW, wanting to commit some of it to memory. It's so honest, so practical too, giving us simple steps we can all take, and would want to take, to make our lives bettter. Dr Glen UNDERSTANDS so many truths that most of us have missed. Even the chapter titles are enticing gems of philosophy, and so easy to read. My favourite chapter is TRUE APPRECIATION OF THE MIRACLE OF THE MOMENT. To quote: 'It simply implies that there are true miracles, by the tens of thousands each day, that most of us choose to ignore.'
What Dr Glen is offering us, without preaching, is his own gentle formula for transforming our lives. No matter how hard we have worked and studied, here in this beautiful little book are the truths we have been searching for. I feel so passionate about A Glimpse Of Heaven, that I'm going to read it again, and again; and I'm going to buy some more copies to give to my friends. I might even send one to our prime minister ! Thankyou, Dr Glen Hepker, for this GIFT to the human race.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 January 2018'Dignity, decency, goodness and grace' - surely, these should be the fundamentals of human interaction? The ancient Chinese philosophers of the Bright and Beautiful School of Thought understood that this is the way to true health but, clearly, their message needs repeating. This excellent and enriching book does so admirably. Written in an accessible and engaging style, each chapter reminds us how, starting with ourselves, we can behave in a positive way by being 'well-meaning' in our dealings with others, our fellow human beings, with whom we are, essentially 'in the same boat'. I found myself saying "yes" to every well-made point, every Truth. Knowing that I shall happily return to this book many times, I came away uplifted and enlightened.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2017An excellent book by a talented doctor and author. It helped me a lot. Highly recommended to all. A magnificent philosophy of health and healing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 February 2016Dr Glen Hepker’s wonderful treasure: ‘A Glimpse of Heaven,’ is a must-read for those inspired to not only understand, but connect with the very essence of what it is to be a healthy human in today’s world. Taking the reader through a series of fascinating and eye-opening chapters from ‘Acting without Acting’ to ‘True Honesty’ he skillfully guides the reader through practical ways to achieve those basic but elusive ideals we all strive to achieve for a balanced and deeply fulfilling life. I was especially interested in his suggestion to ‘sit absolutely still on the couch, (maybe even in the dark), for an hour with no external stimulation—looking within oneself in order to see and face what is there.’
‘A Glimpse of Heaven’ is one to keep close by at all times—to re-read with concentration, taking each chapter sentence by sentence and internalizing the vital messages, striving to perfect the inspirational lessons within. Thank you, Dr Glen for sharing such wisdom and insight with the world. We need you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read that can be Enjoyed Over and Over
This book (and author) is very insightful at translating ancient, cultural, and somewhat abstract ideas into something beautiful and relevant for today (across cultures). The wisdom is timeless and is psychology-based (universal philosophical truths that cannot offend anyone and only help). If one gets past the cultural component of the history, s(he) can see just how much these ideas are needed today (for all people as individuals and as a community, cross-culturally). This is a perfect gift for you, your family, or friends, who want to reinforce healthy coping skills.
The book can be read over and over for a regular refresher. I was very blessed by this book and I recommend it to people of all faith traditions and for those who have none at all. Wisdom here transcends cultures and sub-cultures, to get to important values and key concepts in wellness and healthy living. Thank you, Glen! You and your work are a blessing to me and I enjoy reading your writings in other spaces too. I can’t wait to hear more about goat yoga (in case anyone is wondering, no, I haven’t eaten or cooked goats…we had them as kids…but maybe if one was quite aggressive and dangerous and I were desperate…I can’t rule out the possibility…but, I’m not looking for goat).

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing stuff from Dr
Amazing stuff from Dr. Glen Hepker. I keep going back to this book. It keeps me on track with my own goals and dreams and acts as a touchstone as I walk my own personal journey through this life. There are so many great lessons in this book. Without the insertion of ego and brilliantly written, Dr G. gives us space to think, to see and to live differently through this work.
Read it. It's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Read
This book is amazing. It is a good read and very thought provoking! The book made me look at my life from an emotional/mental, spiritual, and physical aspect. It encouraged me that we can all make improvements in our life and that we should all strive to live life to the fullest and appreciate each and every day. One concept that really stands out in my mind is Dr. Hepker's numberous references to doing the right thing for the right sake, without the need for selfish recognition! How many times have we done the right thing for the right sake but needed the recogition for doing what is right? That really makes me think about me as a person and how doing the right thing for the right sake, without the need for selfish recogntion plays a part in my life. I will truly strive to move toward this goal as an individual.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is interested in making positive changes in their life.
I have the privilege of knowing Dr. Hepker. He is an extremely intelligent and amazing man and definitely portrays his beliefs in this book in his daily life!
Great job, Glen!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have..........:)
review: A Glimpse of Heaven: The Philosophy of True Health by DrGlen Hepker i first began reading this incredibly well written book when it was excerpted on FB; then decided to order the book so i could read it in its entirity...........
DrGlen Hepker writes in a very mystical format..... this book is based on a little known philosophy, (Ming Chia) which "supports the theory that the quality of our lives would be greatly enhanced if we took True Responsibility for our own health and wellbeing...."
it is stressed that this belief does NOT go against other religions or spiritual beliefs.
part of our healing can come thru doing the right thing for the right reasons; (not because we want to be acknowledged for doing so) as well as being a true witness; presenting only the facts, and being honest with ourselves, as well as others......
i know others will enjoy it; to me it is was a "must have" ........when you purchase it, you will feel the same....
PLEASE NOTE: this was reviewed by Jackie Starr, Bob Starr's wife......

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again patient with MS
I was feeling depressed and hopeless when I saw this beautiful cover, and the shining sun call to me. I opened it and there was a warm friendly documentary about how health can be reversed by methods of beliefs and will power. It is deep and intense, yet written in layperson's terms that it gives a reader a glimpse of Heaven, which is hope that illness can be reversed if we believe and work on our thoughts, diet and such. In the author's description, readers can see what this reader saw in this book, too. In "A Glimpse of Heaven, the author's words modestly depict a beautiful, altruistic, benevolent, and well-rounded health and wellness philosophical way-of-life - while conveying a powerful message whose purpose is to assist in making the world a better place." I still read it, like my health bible and follow his updates on Facebook.
