All I Want for Christmas is You: A Small Town Holiday Romance Novel (Fate with a Helping Hand Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 5,543 ratings

"Christmas magic is right anytime - highly recommended." C Penn, WordWeaving

Sometimes fate needs a little push... or maybe a nudge from a six-year-old with a Christmas wish to Santa.

When I stepped into that Santa suit at the mall, I thought it was just an afternoon spreading a little Christmas cheer...until Kristen sat on my lap and asked for her Christmas wish. She didn’t ask for toys or candy. She asked for something no Santa could put under a tree—a daddy for her mom.

As a former foster kid, I know what it’s like to feel abandoned. I was lucky to find amazing adoptive parents who gave me a second chance at family, but trust? That’s harder to build than any house I’ve ever built. And trust is what the beautiful young mother, Lauren Alexander, seems to be running low on. She’s strong, independent, and has done everything on her own for six years. But behind that strength, I see the same fight to stay brave.

Kristen believes in Christmas magic, and maybe, just maybe, she’s onto something. Because this Santa has a plan. They've both captured my heart. Why not make it forever? Building a life together won’t be easy, but sometimes love needs a little Christmas miracle to bring it home.

I absolutely loved this story. I don't do romance books, but downloaded this one because of the Christmas Theme. A little girls wish for a daddy, and someone for her hard working single mum made to a shopping mall Santa. This story made me smile, laugh out loud and cry. I hate to go too much into the story a give away the total story in my reviews otherwise they'd be no point in reading it. I've already recommended it to a work colleague and would definitely class this as a must read on a cosy winters night, left me feeling very warm and fuzzy and wishing it was Christmas and hoping for a Kyle of my own under my Christmas tree. Apparently this was one of Lisa Mondello's first books and is very well written, and had no trouble disappearing into her world for this story as it played out in my head while I read.

Santa comes to the rescue. Little girl wants a dad and tells the mall santa so. Santa just happens to be a young, wealthy and suitable candidate. Nothing earth shattering or genre busting but it's a good read with several nice touches.

I agree with other readers in that it is a good read. I got into the book straight away and warmed to the characters etc etc. However, the kindle version stops at 74% according to my kindle so when it said "THE END" I was at a loss to see how that could possibly be the end of the book. It felt like it was just the end of that chapter. Therefore I have to say I was hoping for a further 26% of the story and felt let down and a bit cheated as I bought this book at the slightly higher price. Conclusion = if you are after an easy read for holidays or just to cheer you up, provided it is FREE to Kindle then buy it. If it costs you anything in excess of £3 give it a miss.

A book for nothing? Yes, that's what I thought - until I read All I Want For Christmas Is You. Bearing in mind that I am a pensioner I had to admit to being captivated from page 1. Couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Also I am an ex journalist and author and had to admire the craftmanship in which the story was written. Despite being one solid plot with no diversions or subplots, it is a credit to Lisa Mondello that it was so good. Definitely a feel-good story. I read the reviews and was a bit sceptical having just read another kindle book which had rave reviews and I was disappointed with that one. I actually felt that I hadn't got my money's worth. But this one, I would have paid for gladly and to get it for nothing was just the icing on the cake. Definitely one to read and I, for one, as definitely going to read more of this author's work. Nice one Kindle!

I am not one for romantic reads but this was so lovely it touched my heart. I cried and laughed reading this book.
Highly recommended and get it while its free which is a good treat then ;)

A lovely festive read, filled with happiness and a lovely ending.

Single parent Lauren's daughter Kristen asks Santa at a local store for a daddy for Christmas. This Santa happens to be Kyle, who owns the store. When Kyle and Lauren start to build a friendship, we get to see if this can become more if Lauren is prepared to remove the walls she's built around herself after being let down by others in her past.

A lovely read about a lovely couple who help each other build a future. This is a standalone book with a happy ending, however I think there are other books in the series about other characters. I will definitely be looking at them as this author has a compelling way of writing

Despite being downloaded under Christian fiction the only mention of the Almighty is people saying "God"- as in oh God what have I done ... or God I want .... A light tale with some character development but I feel Lauren's memory of the past would have had more baring on her relationship with Kyle. There is a secular romantic fiction happy ending but this is not a Christian story but a Christmas story. The story also contains some detailed sex scenes which added nothing to the story.

A chance encounter was a mall Santa turns single mother Lauren Alexander's world upside down.

All Lauren's daughter, Kristen, asks mall Santa for is a daddy, except that type of gift isn't within Santa's purview to grant. Kyle Preston, the man behind the white beard and overstuffed costume, really feels for the little girl on his lap asking for Santa to bring her a daddy this Christmas. A product of the foster system as a pre-teen, Kyle has been both the neglected kid without a constant father figure and the welcomed son to a wonderful new set of loving parents. He hates that he can't grant Kristen's wish but explains to her as best he can that he probably can't bring her a daddy on this short of notice.

When Kyle leaves the mall and sees Kristen's mom stranded in the parking lot, he offers to assist her. Unfortunately, Lauren freaks out. She's been able to trust anyone for many years so when a stranger offers to help her with her car, she's automatically skeptical of motive. Her daughter's father left her and her parents shut her out of their lives, all when she needed them the most.

Drawn to both Lauren and Kristen, Kyle invites them both the annual Christmas tree lighting. From here the invitations for Lauren and Kristen to attend Preston family functions continues. Lauren is comfortable with Kyle and his family but she's not comfortable being in a relationship. Her attempts to dissuade Kyle could have chased a lesser man away but he proves to Lauren that she can trust him and he's not going anywhere.

This is the first book that I've read by Lisa Mondello and I wonder why I waited so long. I grabbed a copy of this book off of Amazon in 2012 and I just read it. The book is fast paced and I found it easy to get absorbed in the story. The author does a great job with the character development and world building. We have to have enough of the back story for Lauren to understand her behaviors in the present day. We also need Kyle's back story to put him in perspective, too.

This story is sweet and hopeful. It's full of love and tenderness but also skepticism and uncertainty. Lauren's ex and her family have done a number on her and she's unable to look past the hurt until she meets Kyle. Their connection is instant and written realistically. I was able to connect to the characters on an emotional level because they were written so well.

Their relationship moves along pretty fast over the holiday season so if you're not into insta-love then this probably isn't the book for you. The book, story, and timeline work for me because I met my husband online in July, we met face-to-face in August and went on several dates, and I moved in by September. We waited a year to get engaged, however, and another year to get married. We've now been together for just over 9 years and married for just over 7 years. It can happen people!

Anyway, if you are looking for a fast-paced holiday romance with a sweet 6 year old, a moody teenager, a distrusting and lonely woman, a hot Santa, and a crazy but happy family, you should definitely check out All I Want for Christmas is You.

It is one great love story to enjoy and read at leisure. It is not a book to read in hurry and finish, the character Lauren and Kyle are instantly lovable. All the side characters are equally well brought out and one can fall in love with this story to perhaps pick it to read again .....
