Jeffrey Archer Presents: New Wife: A Story Kindle Edition
"This is a moving story, well told and beautifully written."
--Jeffrey Archer
In celebration of Jeffrey Archer's latest short story collection, And Thereby Hangs a Tale, St. Martin's Press sponsored the "Jeffrey Archer Presents" Short Story Competition. #1 New York Times bestselling author and master of the short story Jeffrey Archer is known for the precise wit and timely revelations in his tales, and now with this short story competition he has had the opportunity to recognize those same outstanding gifts in winner Mark Trainer's New Wife.
What if you woke up with a lifetime of memories but were unable to recognize the wife you shared so many of them with? That's exactly what happens to Danny when his wife Eve comes down the steps one morning. Her hair, her mouth, her hands—everything—it's all wrong. He's certain it's just not her. But then why is Danny the only one who doesn't recognize this "new wife?"
Confused and more afraid than he's willing to admit even to himself, Danny's responsibilities as a husband to a woman he doesn't know and father to a son with hidden problems force Danny to face a future that is only slightly less knowable than his past.
An intimate look at a man trying to hold his family together while he seems to be coming apart, Mark Trainer's New Wife is a remarkable story brimming with insight and affection.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 June 2019Didn’t realise that’s it’s not a Jeffery Archer book and a short story. My mistake! Using his name to present a book is a con in my opinion. Secondly it was a very poor story with a terrible ending from an American author. Luckily I only paid 99p and it wasn’t worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment.
Seriously Jeffrey Archer! - this garbage is way out of character for an author with your talent, I am beyond disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short stories
I LOVE short stories - probably something to do with my attention span - interesting what happens to attention span as the years move on by. I like Jeffrey Archer - well, at least a good half of it. This story did not grab my imagination. Well written as usual. On the other hand I must say that I love reading short stories that one can buy one at a time. one can buy Nicole Krauss by the story as well. This whole new way of reading sure has captured my imagination

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't know yet
I have ready just 5 pages or something yet, can't tell. Give me time to read it before forcing me to write a review. I don't have it yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good story.
This story was NOT written by Jeffrey Archer. He just presented the short story competition , this story came out of. The author is Mark Trainer.
One day, Danny's wife disappears to be replaced by someone who looked like Eve, dressed like her, sounded like her - but he knew it wasn't her. His son acted like it was her. To add to the situation, Danny forgot something he never forgot. Then didn't recognize the school he had gone to. It took a sudden ferocious moment to change things.
Pretty good story.
