    The first part of The Dragonheart Legacy - a trilogy. We meet Breen Kelly, who goes through life trying to avoid attention, doing a job she hates and struggling paycheck to paycheck. She has grown up in a single parent home with her mum telling her she'll never amount to much, and that's why her dad left.
    Then, one day, she starts to notice mysterious man with silver hair is always around, though only she can see him. This leads to her finding an incredible surprise in her mum's papers and to the knowledge she's been lied to her whole life. A trip to Ireland fills in the missing pieces, and it would be unfair to give it away. All i will say is that she is something more than human with a huge destiny. All she needs to do is choose it.
    A fantastically thrilling read. A few dark frightening moments but many more happy, fun moments. A particular delight is Bollocks the dog.
    Be aware that this first part ends on a cliffhanger, so you may want to have part 2 ready for after you've finished.

    Book one of three, the series is a good read, with a story that flows well and some interesting characters.

    However the story will stutter for UK readers when they discover that the heroine's publishers sign her up for writing kids books about a dog called Bollocks. Yes, that's right readers, we have a publishing company that miraculously decides that a dog named after the slang term for testicles, is the ideal protagonist for children's literature.

    It's a real shame because it's such a clanger and every single mention of it (and there are a few) sticks out like a sore thumb. Nora Roberts is usually pretty good on research so I'm surprised this wasn't picked up.

    Perhaps this is a feature of US editors not understanding slang from over the pond?

The relationship Breen has with not only her gay best friend Marco but also with drag queen "the mother of her heart" Sally and also Sally's partner Derrick, made my heart feel so full while reading, I loved it. There is so much packed in to this first book with the mix of real life and fantasy and I am looking forward to seeing what develops between Breen and Keegan. I have so many questions regarding where this will go next and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
