- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2018This is another great time travel book by one of my favourite authors.
When we read a book we want to be changed in some way by what we read and this story certainly did that for me. Amy is travelling back in time, reliving each new year. This book challenged the way I think about age. We all worry about getting older and what this will feel like and everything we stand to lose as we get older. But Jason challenges us to consider what it would be like to get younger - and actually it's not a great prospect! This book will get you thinking about your past. We all have strong memories of new year. Some are good, some bad and so this book touches to the core. Imagine relinquishing all of the rights and freedoms you have as an adult, everything you've worked hard to achieve, everything you hold dear in your life. Imagine being slowly stripped away: your sexual being, your confident adult self, your developed body and mind? It's not a pretty place.
Amy is hurtling towards her birth. Will she be sucked back into the womb or will she find a way to break this time loop? This book, 'My Today, Your Yesterday' and 'Rock Bottom' are my favourite books by this author. Jason's style to writing is easy flowing, crisp and doesn't tax the brain making it an ideal read if you're on holiday or just lazing at home.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 February 2020Best time travel books ever. These series' are a must read for sci-fi fans who like travel.
It has lots of twists and turns and unexpected events. The premise seems completely different to other time travel ideas. Every new book has a different twist.
My nitpick, having read them all to date... There always seems to be a low sexual morals female character with red curly hair... Has the author had a bad experience with a female with red, curly hair?
I felt really sorry for the good guy in this book who met a grisly end through no fault of his own and I had hoped the protagonist would end up with him in a slightly different universe, but I guess justice was served when the adulterer/murderer went to prison.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2024This is the tenth book in the wonderful Time Bubble series, again centred around the life experiences of a minor character who has popped up a couple of times before, in this case Amy Reynolds, who nursed the dying Thomas Scott in hospital in January 2025 in the previous novel, and appeared as a little girl in an earlier novel whom Josh bumped into in 1992. The 39 year old Amy is transported back to the previous December 31st (2023) and after one or two further slipbacks realises she is reliving every 31 December and 1 January (her birthday). Inevitably she tries to change her future, in particular during her 30s by taking revenge on her ex boyfriend Rob who she had caught shagging the next door neighbour, and when they first met trying to get off instead with his much better friend Gary. As her life regresses she tries to tackle more serious problems like stopping her mum drinking herself to death, and rescuing her elder sister Rachel who died in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. As she regresses into childhood, she enjoys the experience of being a child with foreknowledge, while being worried about what will happen before she is born. However in the chance encounter with Josh in 1992, she is able to pass him just enough information for him to eventually put her back on the correct time stream. As much fun as ever, and interesting to see what happens to minor characters and how they were affected by the ripples of the actions Josh and co originally set in train.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 January 2019I purchased this book before the New Year with the intention of reading it to start off my New Year (2019) reading and what a great read it was. I was glued from start to finish. Time travel stories interest me. However for me there has to be an element of reality and the ordinary to make it extraordinary. This book had that big time. I could identify with the main character, the songs and attitudes of the year's she was in. Very very good. I have read the 3 previous books in the series and enjoyed them immensely. Hope there will be more to come.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 March 2021I've read every book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The characters are all interesting in their own ways and each has their own story told in full, which has made the series feel solid and properly fleshed out. I can't recommend this series highly enough. If you're a fan of time travel, or even if you're not, read this series, you won't regret it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 June 2021With the usual high quality writing behind it. This book is similar to Jason Ayres previous one in the series in terms of the unusual angle that it approaches time travel from.
Josh makes a brief return in this one but it centres around one of the ancillary characters from an earlier book.
There are unexpected turns when the main character decides to take advantage of her situation with a vengeful mindset. Enjoy
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 December 2018As far as I'm concerned and having read all his books so far, the story is original, readable as a stand alone or within the series and most importantly for me - a darn good yarn. Get this book and you'll be celebrating this particular New Year.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 August 2023Took a while to get into it but loved it in the end. Always worth reading most things from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars I especially enjoy the time travel side stories like "Happy New Year" ...
Another thoroughly enjoyable book by Jason Ayers. They may be intended as light reads but his characters stay with you and provide much food for thought long after you finish the story. I especially enjoy the time travel side stories like "Happy New Year" staring minor characters from the main series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner!
Another great book in the series. Again, well-written and fast paced. I pre-ordered this, and I'm glad I did. Looking forward to more in this series, as well as other works by this author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Type errors, in this e book, beware!
I am a fan of time travel, but not the f word. I am not a fan of the descriptive sexual encounters.
