Enjoyed the ideas in this first of the series. Not great literature, but having a post-viral which means I find it hard to concentrate, it is ideal for me. Because it is written very simply and the plot is clear - which in time travel books is by no means universal - I can just skim through it and be entertained. And it is very entertaining.

Just like the characters, I tackled The Time Bubble not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by a variety of aspects of the story. In writing my review I do not intend to be too critical, because it is intended for a YA audience, and it is a sci-fi based story.
The idea of this means of time-travel is a relatively simple one and is easy to accept if you let the story carry you along. I felt that the characters were well-drawn and the dialogue was tempered about right for their age group. There were psychological and physical changes going on in their lives and therein lay a quandary when dealing with the adults in the story. After all - who would listen to teenagers with a tall tale?
There were some great passages of detailed imagery, but these were juxtaposed to opportunities where there could have been better descriptions. It can be a difficult juggling act, but it left me with the impression that the author wrote detail where comfortable and skipped it when not so confident. This wasn’t something I was looking out for, but for me, it was noticeable. There is a fine balance required with regard to imagery, but the key is to maintain the same level throughout.
In summary, I feel this is a great story for a YA or young teenage audience who may be looking for a good story, but don’t require the minute detail I tend to expect. In particular, it is a great story for a young audience with an interest in sci-fi. There is a sequel or parallel story now available which I believe would also be a good read.

As a YA novel TTB rocks! As an adult novel it sets one to thinking about the future and what exactly the Industrial Revolution of the Victorian era unleashed, and the inevitable legacy that future generations will have to contend with.

The setting of TTB is a tad futuristic (2018) and involves the upcoming HS2 high-speed rail link from London to Birmingham. With all new developments construction companies move in and with excavations no one can know what might inadvertently be uncovered or unleashed. Until that is, two teen boys Charlie & Josh just so happen to be walking through a subway tunnel. Disbelieving what has happened before his very eyes, Charlie blinks only to realise he did indeed witness what he thought he had. Stunned, amazed his attempts to enlighten Josh falls on deaf ears until...

Oh yes, The Time Bubble is damn good read, in which teenage machinations of love, romance and sex collide with boyish need to explore the unknown in more ways than one. And yet, it is an adult of whom they confide their find to, a man who subsequently benefits from The Time Bubble as time leaps forward in years whilst a watch and cell-phone dictate otherwise. This is a fun and thought provoking read and a peep into a future that could become all too real!

Charlie & Josh`s interests were the same as most teenagers: drinking, parties & girls. That is until the day they discovered the Time Bubble.

It starts at a bit of fun, jumping a few seconds into the future. Soon things take a more serious turn as the leaps in time increase in duration. When a teenage girl goes missing and the Police become involved, suspicion falls on Charlie. As the long term dangers become clear, one man comes up with a solution -- one that could hold the key to his own salvation.

How can he explain where she is? Will anyone believe him.

Set in a small market town in the Southern England in the early 21st century , this light hearted time travel novel has plenty to delight readers of all ages. This novel is part of a trilogy which continues on in
"Global Cooling" and "Man Out Of Time"

These 3 books are included in a set of 12. If you want a preview of all 12 go onto Amazon & read the beginning pages of all 12 books either in paperback or kindle format.

This is a short novel that definitely improves as it goes on; I’m not sure whether lumping the first couple of books together might help slow the pace down a bit and allow the characters to develop further but by the end I was gagging for more.
Oh yes, and Peter should definitely have become a Science teacher, especially one who teachers Physics!

4.0 out of 5 stars An original in a difficult, saturated genre
Reviewed in India on 4 December 2020
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as it dealt cleverly with time travel. I myself have often pondered about medical discovery in the future and this story ties neatly into it.

I did find the characters of Andy and Dan to be thin caricatures and wish they were more nuanced.

Overall, this is an easy to read page-turner with a satisfying conclusion.

It was a very intriguing take on the time travel genre, which is one of my favourites. As a math geek, the exponential aspect of the time jump was right up my alley. The last few pages were very creative (no spoilers). The characters were realistic and quite sympathetic. I will definitely read more from Jason Ayres.

Too wordy for 50% then the story blossomed. Looking back on it all, a terrific tale. Where to from here, or from there?
