- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2015I have been a huge fan of Miranda's books, ever since the first; Fairytale of New York. I feel since then I have been on an incredible journey with Miranda through her story telling, and get excited with each book. I have a love for New York, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to read "I'll Take New York."
To think that Miranda has not lived in the city, she captures the place so well, and would think that she was a native.
I loved the story, I loved how fans of the first book, were able to catch up with the characters, but even if you've not read it, it doesn't matter.
Bea and Jake have a shared passion of the amazing city that never sleeps, and it was really fascinating to read how they experience familiar landmarks and their interpretations of them.
Whilst these types of storylines can be quite predictable, I still wasn't sure which way it was going to go, right up until the very last two chapters. If you are a fan of romance and reality then this is a great read. I like how the characters are 'normal' and you can really relate to them.
Another great book Miranda, and Iook forward to your future offerings.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2015I bought this as I'd previously read Fairytale of New York. I enjoyed the old characters and the changes in their lives and the interaction with the new characters. I also like the twists and turns in the tale with the new characters. It is a really good easy read that does keep you guessing til the end. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that the 2 new main characters were too similar to the 2 old main characters. To some degrees it felt a bit like re-reading the same story with different names. Anyone who enjoyed Fairy Tale of New York will enjoy this book.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 November 2015Seeing As the days are getting darker and colder, I really wanted a book set in New York at Christmas time to curl up and read. This book was suggested and for only 99p, I didn't hesitate to buy. Really pleased with my purchase as it is a great read, didn't want it to end. It maybe a typical boy meets girl, and neither of them admits there true feelings to each other story but I found it an enjoyable and easy to follow story, was easy to imagine the setting of New York and makes me want to go there and to visit!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 January 2022This has been sat on my kindle waiting to be read for so long, mainly due to the size of the book. At 500+ pages it's quite a large read. Whilst I enjoyed the book, I did feel it dragged a little and was longer than it needed to be. It had a predictable ending and I wanted to knock Jake and Bea's heads together at times!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 January 2016I've found a new favourite author in Miranda Dickinson. This book was light-hearted, full of romance and happiness. Throw in a little bitterness and sorrow and you've got a perfect winter book. Curl up with a blanket, hot drink and just let it flow!! Beautiful writing, happily read again!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 June 2015This was the story of Brooklyn bookseller, Bea searching for a better life now she's newly single. She can be happy without a man surely! Jake is reeling from the breakup of his marriage and moves back to New York to start again. Does Fate draw Be and Jake together or are they destined to be alone forever?
A story about all kinds of relationships. For those who like a gentle-paced read with a touch of romance.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 January 2015Love this book, I read fairy tale in New York a few years ago and was unaware this is the sequel until I recognised Rosie and ed. I adored the story and as new York was where we had our honeymoon I can totally put myself there in the magical central park and the other amazing locations mentioned within this book which captures its beauty brilliantly. Would definitely recommend xxxxx (both the book and new York lol).

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor storyline and characters
Very slow story...and so predictable! Took me a long time to get through this book, I really struggled and read 2 other books in the middle to break the monotony. Characters were dull & stereotyped, the most enjoyable parts were those describing New York which the author clearly loves. I wont bother seeking out other stories by this author

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely read
The story was captivating. I love New York City so following the characters around the area was a special delight! I felt as if I was really there and visualizing the area around Broadway, I saw the coffee shop, the florist, and restaurants in my mind’s eye. I can’t wait to go again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea but didn't like the ending
Bea has just broken up a five-year relationship and Jake's wife has asked for a divorce, causing him to move back to New York City. When the two meet as the only two singles at a party, they make a pact to explore New York with no relationships.
It's a nice concept, but the real romance is with New York City. I loved how they traveled around to all the tourist spots and also their own little bits of the city.
The actual romance is a very slow-burn story that kind of falls apart at the end. Jake and Bea are so self-unaware that it drove me crazy, but the contrived endings with their exes didn't work for me. The two had nice chemistry and I thought they could have realized it themselves without all the drama. Also, how is Bea's traveling family just flying around to get there for dinner on such short notice (several times)? It seemed like they could have begged off once or twice and bringing Grandma just seemed over-the top. Anyway, this is 3 1/2 stars for me rounded up.
